The ultimate answer.
The ultimate answer.

Legal marketers organize and support so many exciting events for lawyers and clients. Whether it's a private room in a swanky restaurant, a suite at a marquis sporting event, or an exotic destination boondoggle, we see how the other half lives.

In fact, while we get our share of treats, it can almost feel discouraging to be so close to the action—responsible even for making it great, whether by site selection, content development, or participant research—yet forever on the outside looking in.

Rose Betts has felt what you're experiencing, and more. And her song "Hot Girl Summer" is the ultimate answer

Here's the setup: The singer (or song character) laments not being pretty, skinny, or smartly dressed, so she never got invited to the pool or the common, or later to the parties in the hills.

This builds for a couple verses, and then the chorus sticks the landing:

They have their hot girl summer

With their hot girl friends

Drinking hot girl wine

With their hot girl men

And though I might not be hot enough for hot girl things

Turns out I wrote a song that the hot girls sing

The. Perfect. Answer. Especially when you hear her sing it.

And though I didn't catch it the first few times, there's another zinger every bit as powerful, yet easy to miss:

And I never get the invites

To parties in the hills

The girls who peaked in high school

Decorate the window sills

But everybody lives inside a world

The outcasts build

Though we're never at the parties in the hills

To be sure, I don't think the lawyers we support "peaked in high school" (well, maybe some!). Yet I feel seen. I think you may, too.

The next time you need to give yourself a pep talk relative to roles in law firms, dial up "Hot Girl Summer" and get the perspective check you need.

Check it out.
